Explore the legacies of transatlantic slavery and the fight for justice that continues today

Our ISM on Tour programme takes powerful stories of freedom, resistance, and resilience into schools and community settings. Using real objects, discussion, and creative activities, students explore the legacies of transatlantic slavery and the fight for justice that continues today. The sessions support curriculum learning in history, citizenship, and social studies, while encouraging empathy, critical thinking, and meaningful conversations about equality and human rights.

What is the On Tour programme?

Our On Tour sessions bring museum learning directly into schools and community spaces or at Museum of Liverpool. Led by our expert educators, they use real objects, stories, and activities to bring subjects to life without needing to travel.

Which subjects and age groups are the sessions suitable for?

We offer sessions linked to history, citizenship, geography, literacy, and PSHE, tailored for primary, secondary and post-16 learners.

What do schools need to provide for a visit?

Just a suitable classroom or hall space for the session. Our team will bring all resources and materials needed.

How do we book and is there a cost?

Bookings can be made through our bookings team by online or via email. Prices are available on our website and bursaries are available for schools in North Liverpool. For more information on eligibility, please contact emma.walmsley@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk.
