Description
In 2015 Melplash Agricultural Society launched their Discover Farming project to inform, educate and inspire children at primary and secondary schools. Believing that it is vitally important that children develop an understanding of the role of farming and agriculture in our local economy and environment the Society set up an education centre.
The classroom at Washingpool Farm shop and restaurant provides schools with the opportunity to experience a real working farm, feed the animals and find out about poly tunnels and growing food.
We can offer activities that directly link to the National Curriculum, for example:
Science - plants, habitats, animals, evolution
Geography - map work, river (seasonal), economic activity
We would recommend a pre-visit to discuss your curriculum needs and have a guided tour of the farm and facilities.
